SASEは、ネットワークとセキュリティを融合させるフレームワークとして、統一されたアーキテクチャでネットワークとセキュリティの課題に対処することによって、データの保護、ネットワークとアプリケーションへの迅速かつ信頼性の高いアクセスの提供、効率性と投資対効果の向上を支援するものです。SSEは、SD-WANの機能とうまく融合することでSASEを成功に導くセキュリティ技術を包括しています。
また、ベンダーやツールの乱立を解消することによるコストと管理上のメリットを優先し、より少ないベンダーでSSEやSASEの機能を実現することが求められるようになっています。Gartnerは、「2025年までに、対2021年比20%増となる80%の企業が、SASEやSSEアーキテクチャでWeb、クラウドサービス、プライベートアプリケーションへのアクセスを統一する戦略を採用するだろう」と述べています。
