スウェーデン・ストックホルムに本部を置き、北欧諸国を中心に事業を展開する金融グループであるノルデア銀行は、ホールセール銀行業務担当の従業員3800人を対象としてビットコインや他の仮想通貨への投資を禁じたことが銀行の報道官により明らかになっている。

なお、世界でも有数のキャッシュレス国家といわれる同国中央銀行（Riksbank）は、今後2年以内に自国のデジタル通貨である「e-Krona」の導入を検討していることが足元では伝わっており、今回の北欧大手金融グループによるこのような規制の動きは、「e-Krona」導入に向けた動きの一環としても捉えられよう。
