春の日は麗しく、おだやかであたたかな、春の光がやさしく降り注ぎ、草木が芽吹き、自然や万物を美しく輝かせて見せてくれます。そんな春の日射しをグラスに映したかのような、匠の技を駆使したカッティング煌く、江戸切子をご紹介します。

江戸切子
純国産のカットグラスがはじめて制作されたのは江戸時代末期のこと。江戸大伝馬町にビイドロ問屋を営む加賀屋久兵衛が、南蛮人によって持ち込まれた硝子製品に切子を施したのが始まりといわれています。更に明治時代になると本格的に生産されるようになり、現代、その技術を受け継ぎ東京で生み出される「江戸切子」は伝統工芸にも認定されています。

江戸切子の紋様は、屈み合わせによって無数に広がり、伝統の古典柄から新しい表現方法を取り入れた斬新なデザインなど、匠の技から生み出される美しいカット模様が魅力です。滑らかにに丸く削った玉の中に、硝子の映り込みを利用して、無数の花々が映り込み、まるで万華鏡に入り込んだような幻想的な風景を愉しめます。
