携帯電話補償の世界市場は計上収入保険料と同類収入で2019年には176億ドルに上ると予測

フィナコードが新しく出版した調査レポートによると、バンキング製品や他タイプの保険とのセット商品を除いた個別に消費者に販売された携帯電話の保険と延長保証の世界市場は計上収入保険料と関連収益で、2015年に133億ドルを記録し、2019年にはさらに軌道に乗り、176億ドルの価値になるという。

フィナコードのコンサルタントClaire Fetherstonhaughは「携帯電話をカバーする保険の世界市場は自動車や家庭用などの保険市場に比べると大きくはない。実際に2015年の関連収益は4610億ドルと2102億ドルだ。しかし携帯保険市場はすでに世界で独自の価値を持つ旅行保険市場の158億ドルを超えていた。さらに旅行保険と同様に、携帯電話保険と延長保証部門は自動車保険と住宅保険の年間成長率を遙かに超えて成長していた。」とコメントした。

フィナコードの調査はスマートフォン使用者の保険や保証加入率がより高いことからスマートフォンの所持率増加が世界での携帯電話保険市場の急成長に関係している事を示している。また補助金付きでスマートフォンをモバイルネットワーク事業者から入手することが多いため、スマートフォンの増加により、契約式あるいは後払い式の加入数が増加し、携帯電話料金が契約期間より長く支払われている事もある。　（新型スマートフォンで通常18～24ヶ月）

消費者はスマートフォン保証をモバイルネットワーク事業者と契約し、2年間特定のハンドセットに縛られ高い金額を払わなければ交換できず、事業者へ月ごとに払う金額が決まってしまっている。結果として、長い期間特定のハンドセットを使うことになるため、携帯電話保険や延長保証などを追加することになり、市場にとってはより魅力的となっている。

「他のコメンテーターはこの市場の世界価値はすでに3000ドルを超えたとみているが、私たちのアナリストはそれを超すにはあと10年はかかると考えている」とClaire Fetherstonhaughはいう。「もし大手のモバイル事業者がこの手の保証を計画している場合は、私たちのそのままの予測に入っていない要因の場合、またはもし個人の代理店がそれぞれの市場シェアを広げた場合には、収益はもっと急激に成長するだろう。」

全体的にフィナコードが行った調査は40ヶ国の小売業者（モバイルネットワーク事業者を含む）と製造業を含む1700社近い実在あるいは将来性の高い携帯電話保証の販売業者を対象としている。1/3を優に超える37.7％の業者は現在利用されているモバイルネットワーク事業者に最も広く採用された（驚くことではないだろうが）携帯電話保証のプログラムを持っていた。Claire Fetherstonhaughは次のように締めくくった。「世界規模で携帯電話の保険、延長保証市場は総合的に右肩上がりになっている。それは多くの顧客が携帯端末を所持していて、全員ではないものの、保険保証を購入するからだ。この市場の拡大は保険業者や専門ブローカーだけでなく、端末メーカーや管理者、修理業などにも利益を与える可能性がある。」
