アート＆デザインプロジェクトを中心に数々のアワードを受賞しているクリエイティブラボ、Out of Blue Inc.(所在地：東京都渋谷区、代表：山崎 みどり)は、2023年10月4日～29日、世界最大の電気・情報工学分野の学術研究学会IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers／米国電気電子学会)が主催するアートプログラム「IEEE VIS Arts Program 2023 (VISAP)」において、アート作品『Waiting for the Wave in Metaverse』が選出され、オーストラリアのメルボルンにてエキシビション及び学会発表を行いました。

■IEEE VIS Arts Program 2023 (IEEE VISAP 2023)について
IEEEは1963年に発足した、人類社会の有益な技術革新に貢献する、世界最大規模の通信・電子・情報工学分野とその関連分野を対象とする学術研究団体で、ニューヨークに本部を置く世界160ヵ国以上、40万人を超える会員が所属しています。IEEE VIS Arts Program 2023 (IEEE VISAP 2023)は、IEEE VIS カンファレンス プログラムのミニカンファレンスおよびエキシビションで、ビジュアライゼーションの研究者、デザイナー、アーティストが集まり、データビジュアライゼーション、アート、デザインが交差する作品を展示し議論を行います。2023年度は、オーストラリア メルボルンの Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centreでフォーラムが開催され、アートプログラムのエキシビション「Perpetual Presence」はLibrary at the Doc Galleryで開催されました。

■アート作品『Waiting for the Wave in Metaverse』について
「Waiting for the Wave in Metaverse」は、サーフィンに最も適した、一瞬の波の形を可視化した作品で、EPFL(Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne／スイス連邦工科大学ローザンヌ校)とのコラボレーションにより、デジタルとフィジカル、現実と仮想現実の境界線を超える、創造的なプロセスを通じて制作されました。また自然における実体験と仮想現実における体験の矛盾を可視化して、現実と仮想現実が錯綜する未来においても、美しい体験を能動的に選択してよりよい未来を創造しつづける、人間の認知能力のしなやかな強さと普遍性を伝えています。
