【「elephant ornament(エレファントオーナメント)」について】
五十嵐威暢が学生時代から描いていた動物のイラストレーションは、1973年、東京のギャラリーフジエでの初個展「動物イラスト展」で発表されました。当時、会場を飾ったのは、アルミ、アクリル、布にシルクスクリーン印刷された大判作品。会期中に完売となる好評を得た作品群は、五十嵐の創作活動の原点ともいえます。
なかでも特に愛着があったのは丸みを帯びたおおらかなゾウ。小型オーナメント製作に際しては想像以上に困難を極め、一時は断念したものの、高精度加工技術をもつ栗原精機と出会うことでシンプルで美しい形の再現に成功。ゾウシリーズの誕生です。サイズはS M Lの3サイズ展開で子、母、父とファミリーでお楽しみください。
