2017年12月15日に全世界同時公開予定のStar Warsシリーズ最新作「Star Wars: The Last Jedi（スター・ウォーズ／最後のジェダイ）」とコネクトする公式VRコンテンツ「Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay — Astro-Mechanic for the Resistance」が制作中であることがILM×LABとLucasfilmから発表された。

また、詳しい情報は明らかになっていないが、コンテンツはHTC ViveとSamsung Gear対応になることが同時に発表されている。

ILM×LABとLucasfilmがBB-8などのアストロメカを修理して遊ぶ、新しいVRコンテンツ「Star Wars: Droid Repair Bay — Astro-Mechanic for the Resistance」を制作中であることを発表した。

コンテンツはHTC ViveとSamsung Gear対応でリリースされる予定だ。

In Star Wars: Droid Repair Bayでは、プレイヤーはアストロメカ・テクニシャンとしてGeneral Leiaのシップで旅に出る。

コンテンツはフルVRで作られており、実際に修理している感覚で、ゲームを楽しめる。

In Star Wars: Droid Repair Bayは2017年12月15日に全世界同時公開予定のStar Wars エピソードVIII「Star Wars: The Last Jedi（スター・ウォーズ／最後のジェダイ）」とつながる公式コンテンツとなり、ユニークなキャラクターを持つオリジナルデザインの新しいアストロメカも登場する。

どのようなストーリーでゲームが進んでいくのかなどの詳細はまだ発表されておらず、リリース日なども未定だ。

BB-8以外にR2-D2やC-3POなど映画にも登場するアストロメカもキャラクターとして登場するのかなどもまだわからない。

Star Wars: The Last Jedi（スター・ウォーズ／最後のジェダイ）はStar Warsシリーズ、エピソードVIIIで新三部作の二作目となる。

前作、エピソードVIIの「The Force Awakens（フォースの覚醒）」では帝国が滅んだ30年後の世界が舞台となり、ダークサイド、カイロ・レン率いる新しい脅威、The First Order（ファースト・オーダー）とそれに立ち向かうレジスタンスとの闘いが描かれている。

伝説のジェダイとしてルーク・スカイウォーカーやハン・ソロ、チューバッカ、R2-D2、C-3POなどシリーズをとおして人気のキャラクターたちも登場し、話題となった。

さらに新しく主人公として登場するレイやアストロメカのBB-8など新しい人気キャラクターも登場している。

新三部作の第二作目となるスター・ウォーズ／最後のジェダイでは、前作でスカイウォーカーとめぐりあったレイとスカイウォーカーのその後が描かれており、サブタイトルの最後のジェダイが意味するものなど知られざる秘密が明らかになると予告されている。

VRコンテンツでは新三部作の人気キャラクターである、BB-8とその仲間たちの修理がフルVRで楽しめる。

Star Warsシリーズでは他にも「Star Wars™ バトルフロント™ Rogue One™: Xウィング VR ミッション」などのVRコンテンツがリリースされている。

このVRコンテンツはStar Warsシリーズ、「Rogue One（ローグ・ワン）」のVRコンテンツで、反乱同盟軍のパイロットとなってXウィングに乗り込み、スペースシップでのドッグファイトがVRで楽しめる。

PlayStation VR対応でPlayStation Storeにて、無料でダウンロード可能だ。
