PSVRタイトルから移植されたパズルゲーム「GNOP」などUnityで開発されたARKitが続々リリース

Unityブログ記事では、今年の秋にリリースされるUnityで開発されたARKitアプリが紹介された。

リアルな世界に魔法をかける多彩なARKitゲームたち

昨日iOS11のリリース発表に伴い、Appleの新製品発表会において多数のARKitアプリのデモが披露された。このARKitは、現在モバイルゲーム開発で活用されている二大ゲームエンジンUnityとUnreal Engineの両方に対応している。

そんな今後ARKitゲームアプリの一翼を担うUnityのブログ記事では、今年の秋にリリースされる予定のUnityで開発されたARKitアプリのデモが紹介された。

同記事によると、Unity社が把握している限りではUnityベースのARKitゲームアプリは何千とはいかないまでも、すでに何百とある、とのこと。そんなアプリのなかでとくに興味深いものは以下のようなものである。

GNOG

「GNOG」は2015年にインディーズ開発者KO_OPが開発を発表した、カラフルな彩色のパズルゲームである。同ゲームは実はすでにPSVRタイトルとして配信されている。

開発を行ったKO_OPは、あまり聞いたことがないスタジオであるが、今年サンフランシスコで開催された「Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2017」にも参加している。

同ゲームは、モンスターの頭の中が舞台という一風変わったゲームで、ステージがレベル毎に分かれており、全部で9レベルある。ステージ毎にダイナミックな音楽が流れるため、カラフルな彩色を視覚で楽しみ、力の入った音楽によって聴覚でも楽しめるタイトルである。

以下に引用するPSVR版のトレーラー動画とARKit版を比べると、リアルな世界に不思議な箱があるぶんARKit版のほうがシュールな印象を受ける。

ARQUA

「ARQUA」は、リアルな世界を水族館の水槽のように装飾することができるゲームというよりはエンターテインメント系のアプリである。

アプリの開発コンセプト上ゲーム性には乏しいのは否めないが、リアルな世界を美しい水槽のように見せる同アプリの画像は、ARアプリ新時代の「フォトジェニック」を先取りしているかも知れない。

「Splitter Critters」は、リアルな世界にAR表示されたゲームステージが入っている箱を使った独特なゲームシステムのパズルゲームだ。

同ゲームのパズル的要素は、AR表示された箱をバーチャルに切り裂くと箱のなかのステージ構成が変わるところにある(上の動画参照)。

Mammoth Mini Golf

「Mammoth Mini Golf」は、リアルな世界にゴルフコースをAR表示するカジュアルゴルフゲームだ。

ゲームタイトルにあるように、ゴルフコースにはマンモスとマンモスを狩ろうとする原始人のようなキャラクターが登場する。

Walking Dead: Our World

「The Walking Dead: Our World」はAMCとNext Gamesが「The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land」の次に制作しているロケーションベースのARゲームで、ウォーキング・デッドシリーズ初のARゲームとなる。

前作のNo Man’s Landに引き続き、ウォーキング・デッドシリーズのアイコニックキャラクター、Join Rick、Daryl、Michonneと一緒にゾンビで世界が週末を迎えた後の世界を舞台にウォーカーから逃げ回るサバイバル生活が味わえる。

引用したプレイ動画を見るとわかるように、スマホディスプレイのなかにAR表示されるゾンビをタップして攻撃するようだ。

同ゲームはAppleアプリストアとGoogle Playで近日リリース予定。価格は未定である。

以上のようにARKitゲームには、実に多くの可能性がある。そんな可能性のなかでも「Walking Dead: Our World」のように進化したAR位置ゲームの展開がとくに注目される。かの「ポケモンGO」がARKitに対応するのも大いに期待できるだろう。
