ワーナー・ブラザースとDCエンターテイメントは、2017年中の公開が予定されている映画『ジャスティス・リーグ』のプロモーションの一環として「Justice League VR」をリリースすると発表した。

『ジャスティス・リーグ』はアメリカのDCコミックスに登場するスーパーヒーローたちを集めたヒーローチーム「ジャスティス・リーグ」の活躍を描くアクション映画。大人気のヒーロー達が一同に集結することもあり、公開前から日本含め世界中で注目度が高まっている作品だ。

「Justice League VR」は発売月である12月までに、全4段階に分けて徐々に全貌が明らかになっていく予定だ。

「Justice League VR」の概要

『ジャスティス・リーグ」について

『ジャスティス・リーグ』に登場するヒーローはバットマン、ワンダーウーマン、フラッシュ、アクアマン、サイボーグの5人。

地球に迫りくる危機に対処するため、ヒーローチーム「ジャスティス・リーグ」が招集され脅威に立ち向かうというストーリーになっている。

日本での公開は11月23日に予定されている。

「Justice League VR」：9月

「Justice League VR」の全貌は1ヶ月毎、段階的に明らかにされていく。

既に第1段階に当たるVRエクスペリエンスが無料でダウンロード可能となっている。体験するためには、Google Cardboardかそれに相当するスペックを持つVRHMDが必要だ。

内容はゲームのデモプレイ。プレイヤーはバットマンやワンダーウーマンなどのキャラクターとなり、90秒間の間ゲームプレイを楽しめる。

「Justice League VR」：10月

次に10月には、HTC VIVEバージョンの「Justice League VR」を見ることができるようになる。

ワーナー・ブラザースによれば、このバージョンにおいてはHTC VIVEのハンドコントローラーを巧みに操ることで、進化した「スーパーヒーローのシミュレーション」を味わえるようになっているのだという。

また10月の5日から8日までニューヨークで開催予定のコミコンでは、「Justice League」ブースが設営されており、HTC VIVEバージョンの「Justice League VR:Join the League –New York Comic Con Edition」を体験できるようになっているという。

「Justice League VR」：11月

11月にはアメリカでの映画公開日である17日に合わせて、これと同時に「The IMAX VR: Justice League Experience」がニューヨークとロサンゼルスのIMAX VR Centersで楽しめるようになるのだという。

IMAX VR CentersはVR関連のエンターテイメントコンテンツが取り揃えられたアミューズメントブース。

内容としてはプレイヤーがスーパーヒーローとしての力を習得することができるかを試す……といったものに仕上がっているようだ。

なおこのVRエクスペリエンスは映画公開日から2週間だけの限定公開となっているため、体験したい場合には注意が必要だ。

「Justice League VR」：12月（製品発売！）

そして最終的に12月には、一連のVRエクスペリエンスをまとめて製品化した家庭版「Justice League VR」がリリースされる。

これまでのデモ版やアーケード版とは違い、いくつかの追加モードとミッションが実装されている。また家庭版「Justice League VR」はコントローラーだけでなく、ルームスケーリングにも対応しており、より没入感と臨場感を高めることができそうだ。

家庭版「Justice League VR」はHTC Vive、Oculus Rift、Samsung GearVR、Google DayDreamやSony PSVRなど主要なハイエンドVRHMDには全て対応する予定のようだ。

具体的なゲーム内容などの詳細は明らかにされていないが、公開されている画像を見る限りでは5人のスーパーヒーローの内いずれか1人を選択し、エネミーを倒していくというアクションゲームになっていると思われる。

ビッグタイトルの登場に期待が集まる

『ジャスティス・リーグ』というビッグタイトルゆえ、多くの期待が集まる「Justice League VR」。

アメリカでしか体験できないコンテンツが含まれているため、残念ながら日本のファンが今回紹介した4段階全てを体験することは難しいかも知れない。

しかし既に公開されているデモプレイなどを体験するなどして、12月の発売日を心待ちにしておいてほしい。
