バレンタインの由来について一説では、3世紀のローマ皇帝は若い男性が結婚することを禁じていましたが、バレンタインという名の祭司が命令に背いて若いカップルをひそかに結婚させていました。

最終的にバレンタインは2月14日に処刑されてしまったようです。

その後、2月14日は祭日となり"聖バレンタイン・デー"と定められました。

犬にチョコを与えても良い？

チョコレートの主原料であるカカオ豆には、"テオブロミン"という物質が含まれています。

テオブロミンは、人間にはリラックス効果やダイエット効果など良い作用をもたらしますが、犬はこのテオブロミンを体内で分解する能力が低いため、中毒を引き起こしてしまうのです。
