ふわふわの大きなお耳と、豆つぶのようなまろ眉が可愛い女の子です。種類はロングヘアですが実際は短毛で、お手入れラクラク♪ ダックスにしては脚が長いのが自慢です（笑）。

小さな体に信じられないほどのパワーを秘めていて、毎日爆走！やんちゃですが甘えん坊の寂しがり屋で、ときに女優顔負けの演技で飼い主を翻弄します。

ときは2018年のお正月。お母さん犬のもとを離れ、ウチの子になったまんぷくとの暮らしが始まりました。

想像をはるかに超えたやんちゃぶり

のんびりと正月休みを満喫する我々をよそに、まんぷくは新しい家の探検を始めました。

ジッとしていられない性分らしく、部屋中を歩きまわり、いろいろな物のにおいを嗅ぎ、壊しました。

まだ歯が生えきらず、満足に走ることもできないので、自由にさせて大丈夫だろうと思っていましたが、とんでもない！

とんでもなく好奇心旺盛な、やんちゃ娘だったのです。

何でもカジって、どこにでも登る

まんぷくが通り過ぎたあとには、穴をあけられたタオル、引き裂かれたぬいぐるみ、 3枚おろしにされたスリッパが散乱。

いつの間にか靴下も取られ、真冬に素足生活を余儀なくされる我々。

チャックをかじるのも好きで、ターゲットにされたパーカーやフリースジャケットは二度と開け閉めできなくなりました。

怖いものがないのか、高いところに登るのも大好き。一瞬たりとも目を離すことができません。

そして行く先々でオシッコをしてしまうので、一日中ぞうきんを持ってまんぷくを追いかけまわし、夕方にはヘトヘトに。

何かいたずらをするたびに、「へっへ～ん、まいったか！」という感じで、ドヤ顔を向けてくるまんぷく。

小さな命に毎日感動

それでもやっぱり赤ちゃんなので、どんな表情もあどけなく、仕草もヨチヨチしてて可愛い！やんちゃぶりに手を焼きながらも、元気いっぱいの姿に笑いがこみあげます。

たくさん動くわりに、ごはんをあまり食べないのが気がかりでしたが、自分たちが与えたごはんで、一日、また一日と命をつなぐまんぷくを見て、毎日震えるほど感動していました。

「お迎えしてよかったねぇ」と言い合うわたしと夫。

しかし、本当の闘いは、正月休みのあとに待っていたのです……。
