犬が触られて嫌がる場所は、体の先端部分と覚えておきましょう。

足先、口先、お尻まわりです。となると、犬が嫌がることはしたくないですが、これらの場所は日々のお手入れに関係しているところなので触らざるを得ない場所でもあります。

早速、よくあるシチュエーションと上手な対処法をご紹介していきます。

足先

普段は飼い主さんに従順なのに、「散歩から帰って足をふこうとすると嫌がる」「無理に足を持ち上げると、甘かみより強い力でかんだ」など、びっくりするような反応をする犬が多いです。

といっても足を拭かずに家にあげるわけにもいかないですし、散歩から帰る度に嫌がられると困ってしまいますよね… そんな時は、まず傷がないかをチェックして、痛みで嫌がってないかを確認してください。

そして、常に優しく、しかも手早く拭くことを心がけて、足先への刺激をできるだけ減らしください。 また、足先でも特に敏感な足裏や指の間は後回しにしたり、前足より感覚が鈍い後ろ足から拭くなど、犬の気持ちを配慮した順番でお手入れしてあげることも、犬の嫌がり軽減に役立ちます。

口先

口周りやマズルは、かなりハードルが高い場所です。

手を近づけると、鼻の頭にシワを寄せて不快感を表したり、威嚇してくる犬も多いです。このような犬の反抗的な反応に萎縮してしまい、「愛犬が嫌がるから歯磨きできない」といわれる飼い主さんは多いです。

確かに、嫌がっている犬の口に手を入れるのは怖いと思いますが、本当は犬の方がもっと怖がっていますし、嫌なのです。

ですから、犬に優しく声をかけて、安心させることからはじめましょう。 顔をなでるときに、徐々に口周りに手をもっていって、触られることに慣らしつつ、嫌がったら無理強いしないことを繰り返すと、信頼を勝ち得てあまり嫌がらなくなります。

お尻周り

お尻周りは汚れやすいのに、「散歩中に拭こうとしたら逃げた」「洗おうとしたらうなった」という報告が多いように、触りにくい場所でもあります。

お尻周りはとてもデリケートな部分であるだけでなく、自分では見えない場所なので、犬からしたら急に触られてびっくりすることが多いのです。

ですから、せめて驚かせないように、犬にこれから触ることがわかるように声をかけ、見えるように腰から触っていくなどの工夫をするとキレられる確率が下がります。
